Abstract This study aimed to analyze the diet and trophic niche breadth of an insectivorous bat very common in an urban environment in southern Brazil. To analyze the feeding habit of Molossus rufus, it was necessary to collect fecal samples in urban colonies in the city of Maringá, State of Paraná. Samplings occurred from November 2018 to September 2019, including rainy and dry seasons. The fragments found in the samples were identified up to the level of order or family whenever possible. Percentage of volume and frequency of occurrence, Feeding Index (IAi%), PERMANOVA, and trophic niche breadth were used. Thus, a total of 140 samples were obtained, 92 for the rainy season and 48 for the dry season. In terms of percentage of volume, the diet consisted mainly of Hymenoptera (46.9%) in the rainy season and Coleoptera (39.2%) in the dry season. The results for standardized trophic niche breadth were Ba = 0.36 for the rainy season and Ba = 0.37 in the dry season, indicating a low food diversity. In conclusion, there was a food preference on the part of M. rufus according to the season evaluated, with Hymenoptera and Coleoptera being the most relevant dietary items.

Abstract To characterize the diet composition of Moenkhausia bonita and its temporal and ontogenetic variations in streams in the Formoso River basin (MS). The collections were carried out in seven sampling points in two periods throughout the year (dry and rainy). The food items were analyzed according to the volumetric and occurrence frequency methods and the diet was characterized through the Food Index (IAi%). To determine ontogeny, the specimens were divided into five size classes in the dry (D1 to D5) and rainy (R1 to R5) periods. To verify the difference between the species’ diet between the size classes and the periods of the year, the Permutational Multivariate Analysis of Variance – PERMANOVA analysis was performed. Moenkhausia bonita was classified as an invertivore when it consumed basically both aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates (99.5% of the diet), with higher consumption of aquatic invertebrates. There was a significant difference in the diet of between the dry and rainy periods, and although the species basically consumed the same items in the two studied periods, the proportions were different and there was no difference in the diet between size classes. M. bonita diet is based on autochthonous resources regardless of the size class, but that there were different consumption patterns when comparing the different periods of the year. The present study provided the first information on the feeding of M. bonita in a lotic environment and diet spectrum in the developmental phases, (ontogeny) and periods of the year, enabling a better understanding of the species, the importance of invertebrates in its diet, and the need for future studies on the biology, autoecology, and behavior of this species.

Resumo Caracterizar a composição alimentar de Moenkhausia bonita e as variações temporais e ontogenéticas na dieta desta espécie em riachos da bacia do rio Formoso (MS). As coletas foram realizadas em sete pontos amostrais em dois períodos do ano (seco e chuvoso). Os itens alimentares foram analisados de acordo com os métodos volumétrico e de frequência de ocorrência e a dieta foi caracterizada através do Índice Alimentar (IAi%). Para determinar a ontogenia, os espécimes foram divididos em cinco classes de tamanho nos períodos seco (D1 a D5) e chuvoso (R1 a R5). Para verificar a diferença entre a dieta da espécie entre as classes de tamanho e os períodos do ano foi realizado a Análise de Variância Multivariada Permutacional – PERMANOVA. M. bonita foi classificada como invertívora ao consumir basicamente invertebrados tanto aquáticos quanto terrestres (99,5% da dieta), com consumo maior de invertebrados aquáticos. Houve diferença significativa na dieta entre os períodos seco e chuvoso, apesar da espécie consumir basicamente os mesmos itens nos dois períodos estudados, as proporções foram distintas e não houve diferença na dieta entre as classes de tamanho. A dieta de M. bonita é baseada em recursos autóctones independente da classe de tamanho, mas que houve consumo diferente entre os períodos do ano. O presente estudo forneceu as primeiras informações sobre a alimentação de M. bonita em ambiente lótico e seu espectro alimentar nas fases de desenvolvimento(ontogenia)e períodos do ano, possibilitando melhor conhecimento da espécie, a importância dos invertebrados em sua dieta e a necessidade de estudos futuros sobre a biologia, autoecologia e comportamento desta espécie.

Resumo: Este artigo explicita a compreensão que Nietzsche tem da cultura e da educação de sua época. Mostra que para esse autor cultura e educação são inseparáveis e que por isso é necessário pensar em novas perspectivas para a educação de modo que ela sirva de alicerce para uma cultura sadia.

Abstract: This article explains Nietzsche’s understanding of the culture and education of his time. It shows that for this author culture and education are inseparable and that it is therefore necessary to think of new perspectives for education so that it can serve as a foundation for a healthy culture.

Abstract In the upper Paraná River floodplain, the populations of Salminus brasiliensis have been subjected to several anthropic impacts, such as overfishing, the blocking of migratory routes by dams, and regulation of the flood regime. Its populations have disappeared or become depleted in most rivers in this basin. These populations are the target of protection measures aimed at restoring them. This study evaluated the abundance of this species in the upper Paraná River floodplain over a 26-year time series in sites under different degrees of protection. Despite the overall decrease in the abundance of S. brasiliensis across the region, the less impacted sites have higher abundances and exhibited a slower decline in the probability of occurrence. Over time, populations in less impacted sites also exhibited improved fish condition. Some protected areas in the upper Paraná River have had a mitigation effect by lowering the velocity of population decline and representing a constant source of propagule production for other areas. Our results reinforce the notion that populations threatened with low abundances take a long time to effectively recover their stocks. Thus, besides evaluating species conservation strategies, long-term studies are essential to subsidize management measures, such as fisheries regulations.

Resumo Na planície de inundação do alto rio Paraná, as populações de Salminus brasiliensis têm sido submetidas a diversos impactos antrópicos, como sobrepesca, bloqueio de suas rotas migratórias por barragens e regulação do regime de cheias. Essas populações desapareceram ou se esgotaram na maioria dos rios dessa bacia, sendo alvo de medidas de proteção para restaurá-las. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a abundância da espécie na planície de inundação do alto rio Paraná ao longo da série temporal de 26 anos em locais sob diferentes graus de proteção. Apesar da diminuição geral na abundância de S. brasiliensis em toda a região, os locais menos impactados possuem maiores abundâncias e exibiram um declínio mais lento na probabilidade de ocorrência. Com o tempo, as populações em locais menos impactados apresentaram aumento na condição dos peixes. Algumas áreas de proteção no alto rio Paraná têm efeito mitigador, diminuindo a velocidade de declínio populacional, representando fonte de propágulos para as demais áreas. Nossos resultados reforçam a ideia de que populações ameaçadas com baixas abundâncias levam muito tempo para recuperar seus estoques. Assim, além de avaliar as estratégias de conservação das espécies, estudos de longo prazo são essenciais para subsidiar medidas de manejo, como a regulamentação da pesca.

Resumo Embora mortandades massivas de peixes tenham impacto visual extraordinário e sejam certamente uma fatalidade, estamos ainda engatinhando no entendimento e na solução desse problema. Os processos que levam aos eventos de mortes de peixes são complexos e algumas vezes efêmeros, o que explica diagnoses incorretas. Nessa revisão nós discutimos esses eventos em bacias hidrográficas neotropicais, tanto em barragens como em ambientes naturais, porém com o foco nas mortes por falta de oxigênio (anoxia) ou excesso de gases dissolvidos (supersaturação gasosa). Em particular são examinados o conhecimento disponível acerca dos processos que levam a essas condições, os limiares letais de oxigênio dissolvido (OD) e gases totais dissolvidos (GTD) para os peixes e as sequelas da doença das bolhas de gás (DBG). Uma avaliação dos principais eventos de mortandade que ocorreram no Brasil nos últimos 10 anos é também apresentada, bem como discutidas as melhores práticas para o monitoramento, prevenção e mitigação. Conclui-se, finalmente, que a proliferação de hidrelétricas deve contribuir com a expansão desses eventos e consequentemente com mais um fator de ameaça à biodiversidade. Consideramos urgente a inclusão desse tema nos processos de licenciamento de novos empreendimentos pelo órgão ambiental.

Abstract Albeit massive fish mortality has an extraordinary visual impact and is certainly a fatality, we still have rudimentary understanding on how addressing this problem in the Neotropical region. The processes that lead to fish die-off events are complex and sometimes ephemeral, which can lead to incorrect diagnosis. In this review, we discuss these events in Neotropical freshwaters, both in areas impacted by dams and natural environment, with a focus on deaths mediated by the lack of oxygen (anoxia) or the excess of dissolved gases (gas supersaturation). We examine the available knowledge about the related mechanisms, lethal thresholds for dissolved oxygen (DO) and total dissolved gases (TDG) for fish, and the sequelae of gas bubble disease (GBD). An assessment of the main mortality events in Brazil in the last 10 years is also presented, as well as the best practices for monitoring, prevention, and mitigation. Finally, it is concluded that the proliferation of hydroelectric plants in the Neotropical region might contribute to the expansion of these events and, consequently, increasing of impacts on fish conservation. We consider urgent the inclusion of this topic in the licensing processes for new hydropower projects by the environmental agencies.

Resumo Introdução A alimentação escolar é uma importante estratégia na formação de hábitos alimentares saudáveis. Objetivo Analisar os cardápios ofertados aos alunos do Ensino Fundamental em Moju-PA e o número de nutricionistas atuantes no Programa Nacional de Alimentação Escolar. Método Estudo transversal, descritivo e quantitativo realizado em escolas de Ensino Fundamental, no ano de 2015. Analisou-se a composição química dos alimentos dos cardápios, a oferta de frutas, hortaliças, doces e/ou preparações doces e alimentos restritos, e o número de profissionais contratados. Para a análise da composição química, utilizou-se a Tabela Brasileira de Composição de Alimentos, o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística. O consumo e as adequações de macro e micronutrientes foram baseados na Resolução n.º 26/2013, considerando 20% das necessidades nutricionais diárias. Para o número de nutricionistas, considerou-se a Resolução CFN n.º 465/2010. Resultados O município contou com uma nutricionista e a oferta de 38 cardápios, sendo 60,5% para área urbana e 39,5% para área rural. Todos os cardápios estavam inadequados em energia, fibra, macro e micronutrientes. Observou-se oferta baixa de frutas e hortaliças, e elevada oferta de doces e/ou preparações doces, além de alimentos restritos. Conclusão Constatou-se número baixo de nutricionistas, além de cardápios inadequados.

Abstract Background School feeding is an important strategy in the formation of healthy eating habits. Objective To analyze the menus offered to elementary school students in Moju / PA and the number of nutritionists working in the National School Feeding Program. Method A cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative study was carried out in elementary schools in 2015. The chemical composition of the menus, the offer of fruits, vegetables, sweets and / or sweet preparations, which was restricted to foods and the number of professionals were analyzed. For the analysis of the chemical composition, the Brazilian Table of Food Composition, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics were used. Macro and micronutrient consumption and adjustments were based on Resolution 26/2013, considering 20% of daily nutritional needs. For the number of nutritionists, we considered the CFN Resolution No. 465/2010. Results The city counted on 1 nutritionist and the offer of 38 menus, which 60.5% for urban area and 39.5% for rural area. All menus were inadequate concerning to the following aspects: energy, fiber, macro and micronutrient. There was a low supply of fruits and vegetables and a high supply of sweets and / or sweet preparations, in addition to restricted foods. Conclusion It was found a low number of nutritionists, as well as inadequate menus.

RESUMO Brycon orbignyanus é uma espécie endêmica da bacia do rio da Prata, cujos estoques vêm apresentando redução relevante em todo o rio Paraná, e está classificada como espécie ameaçada. Este estudo avaliou aspectos da bio-ecologia da espécie, relacionados a essa ameaça, destacando sua distribuição, abundância, dieta e relação entre o recrutamento e o regime de inundação. Os dados foram obtidos em diferentes partes da bacia do alto rio Paraná (trechos regulados por barragens e trechos livres) de 1986 a 2010, com detalhes no remanescente livre desse segmento (planície de inundação do alto rio Paraná). Os resultados indicam que não existem registros da espécie em mais da metade dos pontos de amostragem localizados nos trechos da bacia do rio Paraná reguladas por barragens, enquanto a espécie foi capturada em 75% dos locais amostrados na planície (remanescente livre de barragem). Foi observado um efeito marcante do regime hidrológico sobre o recrutamento de B. orbignyanus, bem como o uso de diferentes alimentos durante seu desenvolvimento ontogenético, com adultos consumindo quase exclusivamente frutos e sementes, revelando que esses indivíduos são sustentados pela vegetação ripária. Assim, conclui-se que mudanças no regime natural de inundação, bem como a remoção da vegetação ripária, ambas decorrentes de ações antropogênicas, ameaçam B. orbignyanus na bacia do rio Paraná.

ABSTRACT Brycon orbignyanus is an endemic species from La Plata basin whose stocks have been presenting significant reductions throughout the Paraná River. Brycon orbignyanus is categorized as an endangered species. This study evaluated aspects of the bio-ecology of this species that may be related to this threat, highlighting its distribution, abundance, and diet as well as the corresponding relationships between its recruitment and flood regimes. Data were obtained from different parts of the upper Paraná River (stretches free and regulated by dams) from 1986 to 2010 with more detailed data collected from the free remnant of this basin. The results indicate that no records for species exist at more than half of the sampling points located in dam-regulated sections of the Paraná River, whereas specimens were collected from 75% sites in the free plain remnant. We observed a remarkable effect of the hydrological regime on recruitment as well as distinct food demands during ontogenetic development, with adults almost exclusively consuming fruits and seeds, revealing that these individuals are supported by riparian vegetation. Thus, it is concluded that changes in the natural flood regime as well as riparian vegetation removal threaten B. orbignyanus populations in the Paraná River basin.

RESUMO. As relações entre o grau de sobreposição alimentar e disponibilidade de alimentos, e as implicações para a seletividade alimentar de espécies de peixes foram avaliadas em lagoas da planície de inundação do Alto rio Paraná, Brasil. As hipóteses testadas foram: i) as espécies tornam-se menos seletivas em lagoas com alta disponibilidade de recursos alimentares; e ii) espécies (interespecífica) ou indivíduos (intraspecífica) apresentam maior sobreposição alimentar em condições de alta disponibilidade de recursos alimentares. Em geral, com os resultados observou-se que as espécies se tornam menos seletivas quando o ambiente proporciona maior disponibilidade de recursos alimentares. A sobreposição interespecífica não demostrou padrão quando avaliado a disponibilidade de recursos alimentares nas lagoas. No entanto, a sobreposição intraespecífica foi mais acentuada nas condições de elevada disponibilidade de recursos alimentares.

ABSTRACT. The relationships between the degree of dietary overlap and food availability, and implications for food selectivity of fish species were evaluated at floodplain lakes on the upper Paraná River floodplain, Brazil. The hypothesis tested were: i) species become less selective in lakes with high availability of food resources; and ii) species (interspecific) or individual (intraspecific) present higher food overlap in conditions of high availability of food resources. In general, with the results was observed that species become less selective when the environment provided higher availability of food resources. Interspecific overlap did not show a pattern when evaluating availability of food resources in the lakes. However, intraspecific overlap tended to be more accentuated in conditions of high availability of resource food.

Resumo:O presente artigo pretende analisar a relação arte e vida no pensamento de Nietzsche a partir de duas afirmações, uma de O nascimento da tragédia e a outra de A gaia ciência. No primeiro caso, toma-se como ponto de partida e afirmação de que só como fenômeno estético a vida aparece justificada, mostrando como a relação entre o apolíneo e o dionisíaco, como impulsos naturais e artísticos, conseguem justificar os problemas da existência são ultrapassados. No segundo caso, trata-se de compreender a relação entre arte e vida de duas formas: a arte de se pôr em cena frente a si mesmo e a arte de alguém se tornar o que é.

Abstract:this article aims at analyzing the relationship between art and life within Nietzsche's thought in the light of two statements, which have been made in The Birth of Tragedy and in The Gay Science respectively. The first assertion provides us a starting point for the idea that only as an aesthetic phenomenon is life justified, showing why the relationship between Apollonian and Dionysian, as well as between natural and artistic impulses, overcomes the problems of existence. The second assertion leads us to a double comprehension of the relation between life and art: the art of presenting ourselves artistically to ourselves and the art of becoming what one already is.

O artigo tem por objetivo confrontar a filosofia de Nietzsche - da vontade criadora - com a filosofia de Bergson - da duração. Procura perscrutar a compreensão que este filósofo tem da noção de duração, pensada como criação, isto é, como movimento contínuo que traz o passado e gera o futuro no presente: "jorro ininterrupto de novidade".

The objective of this article is to compare Nietzsche's philosophy - creative desire - with Bergson's philosophy - duration. It looks to investigate the philosophers' comprehension of the notion of duration, thought as creation. This is as a continuous movement that brings the past and generates the future in the present: "uninterrupted stream of that which is new".

The following text aims to show that Machado de Assis shaped his chronicle "Author of one's own" ("O autor de si mesmo") by means of Arthur Schopenhauer's metaphysics of love.

O presente trabalho visa entender quais as características populacionais envolvidas no processo de colonização do Astyanax altiparanae no reservatório de Corumbá. As amostragens foram mensais, de março/1996 a fevereiro/2000, compreendendo as fases pré ((Março/1996-Agosto/1996), enchimento (Setembro/1996-Fevereiro/1997) e pós enchimento (Março/1997-Fevereiro/2000), em 11 estações. A abundância foi obtida através da captura por unidade de esforço (CPUE). As variações espaciais e temporais na reprodução foram determinadas através do índice de atividade reprodutiva. A espécie apresentou ampla distribuição espaço temporal, sendo capturada em todos os meses e locais. Os maiores valores de CPUE foram registrados a montante, durante a fase de enchimento. Além disso, nesta fase, a reprodução foi muito intensa a montante do reservatório e moderada nos tributários. Entretanto, constatou-se uma queda na abundância de jovens após a formação do reservatório. Dentre as características populacionais mais relevantes para a colonização, destacam-se a ampla distribuição geográfica, habilidade de ocupar e reproduzir em habitats lênticos, além da flexibilidade alimentar.

This work aimed to determine which population features were important to the colonization process of Astyanax altiparanae in the Corumbá Reservoir. The species presented wide spatial-temporal distribution, caught in all months and sites. Higher CPE values were recorded upstream from the reservoir during the filling phase. In this phase, reproductive activity was intense upstream and moderate in the tributaries. However, a fall in abundance of juveniles was observed after the formation of the reservoir. Among the most relevant population features to grant a successful colonization were wide geographic distribution, ability to occupy and spawn in lentic habitats and feeding flexibility.

No período compreendido entre abril e outubro de 1988, foram estudadas 481 gestantes de primeira consulta, as quais estavam inscritas no Programa de Atendimento à Gestante em oito Centros de Saúde da Secretaria do Estado da Saúde de São Paulo. Do total estudado, 86 gestantes não trouxeram amostras de fezes para análise, mesmo após várias solicitações. A idade média da população estudada foi de 24,5 anos (idade mínima de 14 e máxima de 46 anos); a renda média das famílias das gestantes foi de 0,97 SMPC (salário mínimo per capita) e o número médio de pessoas que compunham suas famílias foi de quatro (um a quinze pessoas). A prevalência de verminose foi de 45,1% (n=395). Os parasitas mais freqüentes foram: Ascaris lumbricoides (19,0%); ancilostomídeos (16,7%) e Trichuris trichiura (15,9%). Das 248 gestantes infectadas de enteroparasitas, 70 (28,2%) eram portadoras somente dos seguintes protozoários: Endolimax nana, Entamoeba coli e Iodamoeba butschllii. A prevalência de parasitas intestinais foi significativamente maior (p<0,05) nas gestantes pertencentes às famílias com renda de até 0,5 SMPC e compostas por 5 pessoas ou mais.

481 pregnant women attented at first consultation from a São Paulo city suburb-subdistrict of Butantan- São Paulo State, Brazil, from April to October of 1988, were investigated regarding the prevalence of verminosis. The mean age was 24,5 years (range 14-46), the average family income was 0.97 PCMW (per capita minimum wage) and the average number of members of the family was 4 (1 to 15). The verminosis prevalence was 45,1% among the women. The most frequent parasites were: Ascaris lumbricoides (19,0%), ancilostomideos (16,7%) and Trichuris trichiura (15,9%), The verminosis prevalence was significantly higher among the pregnant women (p < 0.05) who belonged to the families with income below 0.5 PCMW and greater than 4 members.
